Your vision for New York State’s future Active Transportation system is important! Your involvement will help inform the recommendations, strategies, and policies that are advanced to the final Active Transportation Strategic Plan.


Upcoming Public Meetings

As NYSDOT and the consultant team wrap up the draft Active Transportation Strategic Plan, the Department is hosting a series of in-person and virtual public meetings. These aim to engage the public about the Plan’s goals, recommended strategies, and the progress made so far, related to improving access and safety for pedestrians, bicyclists, and micromobility users. Options to attend the public meetings include:

  • Tuesday, Sept 1st , 5:30-7:00pm at the Albany Public Library (161 Washington Avenue, Albany)
  • Wednesday, Sept 2, 5:00-6:30pm at the Rochester Public Library (115 South Avenue, Rochester)
  • Thursday, Sept 3rd , 5:00-6:30pm at the Hauppauge Public Library (1373 Veterans Memorial Hwy, Hauppauge)
  • Friday, Sept 4th, 12-1:30pm – virtual meeting via Zoom

In the days following the early September meetings, the PowerPoint presentation as well as the recording of the virtual session will be posted to the web site. You will then have the option to provide your input through the series of questions provided within the final presentation. NYSDOT appreciates your ongoing interest in active transportation.
